Erling Haaland’s signature

Erling Haaland’s autograph is one of the most sought-after in the Premier League, found on Manchester City shirts, cards, photos and balls around the world. We do not yet show an animated version of it here, because no freely licensed signature image exists. Read on to see how signed items are checked and what any signature can learn from him.

Where it appears

Manchester City and Norway shirts, trading cards, photos, balls and framed displays.

How it is checked

Authenticated items carry a numbered hologram or a tamper-evident sticker with a certificate that can be looked up.

Rhythm

Signed quickly, usually in one go, so every example differs slightly.

Why it is valued

Strong goalscoring numbers and a fast rise from Norway to Salzburg, Dortmund and Manchester.

A record that makes autographs valuable

Haaland was born on 21 July 2000 in Leeds and moved from Dortmund to Manchester City in 2022. In his first Premier League season, 2022/23, he scored 36 league goals, a record, and 52 in all competitions. Numbers like these create demand, and demand creates a market for signed shirts, cards and photos, where proof of authenticity matters as much as the signature itself.

A hat-trick on debut in Germany

German fans remember him from Dortmund. He came off the bench in the 56th minute on 18 January 2020 at Augsburg, with his team trailing 3-1, and scored three goals in about twenty minutes in a 5-3 win. Over his time at Dortmund he scored 86 goals in 89 games in all competitions. For autograph hunters, items from those seasons are often the ones with the most personal story behind them.

How to tell a real one from a copy

Experts and authenticators look for natural pen flow, pressure changes and small differences between signatures, and treat items that look identical as possible autopen or printed copies. Reliable sellers supply a numbered hologram or sticker plus a certificate you can look up. An unusually low price is a warning sign. No signature is exactly alike twice, and that is a good sign rather than a bad one.

What you can learn from it

A recognisable signature does not need to be elaborate. It needs to be written the same way with the same confidence, every time, even when you are in a hurry. Decide how your name should look, keep the shape simple and practise the movement until it comes naturally. A Professional Signature designed by us gives you a shape to practise and a sheet to practise it on.
